Jeff and Dale I am just getting into the western artist and I do like Remington since he was the first one I noticed.  I will have to look up Charlie Russell's work and have a look at it so I can enlarge my tastes LOL.

Don't get me wrong, thy are both great artists and technically Remington surpasses Russllin any number of ways, but his version of the West was highly romanticised, whereas Charlie's work feels more raw and authentic at least for me.............but like you say they are both brilliant

I favor both Charles Russell and Mr. Remington's work

There is a ton of great western art, my own favorite is Charlie Russell's work, his body

of work is unsurpassed in it's ability to portray a story and the swirling action that was the

old west, and although there were other great artists of that era , most notably Remington,

I will take Charlies work simply because he depicted the truth of a story.

Still distinguished indeed...I am in awe of the talent I found here and hope I can eventually learn enough to be worthy of the ranks.

Carol,

I am honored to be called distinguised, but I think you may have me mixed up with Allen Russell from Livingston, MT. Allen and I got to know each other many years ago, when we were both guiding big game hunters in Montana. He is a talented photographer, and I tend to do broadcast video and write a little.  He got to allenrussell.com first so I have to use www.allenrussellbooks.com

I am honored to be in such distinguished company as Mr. Russell!  I am interested in western photography...I have quite a collection I have taken over the years.  Few things I am so very passionate about...writing, photography, and graphic art.
